Members of the Third Age Trust

Welshpool & District U3A is a cheerful self-help organisation devoted to keeping the more mature brain active. We welcome as members people from all walks of life who are no longer in full-time work. We cover the towns of Welshpool and Montgomery, and their surrounding rural areas.
Each U3A is autonomous and decides how it is run and organised. We have monthly general meetings, usually with an invited speaker, held on the first Wednesday morning of the month in the COWSHACC, Welshpool. starting at 10.30am. Please let us know as soon as possible if you’d like to attend, as we can only accommodate 60 people in view of current restrictions. Specialist Interest Groups meet as and when they wish.

We are fast approaching Welshpool and District u3a Groups Day, to be held this year at Glansevern on Wednesday 3 rd August 11.30am until 3 pm, all are welcome. Why not come along and find out what we are all about. Leaders from the various groups will be happy to explain the opportunities offered and help you decide what may be the most enjoyable for you. Please note this a free event, no charges for entry, parking, cakes or refreshments !

The group will attempt to learn and understand the thinking and stories that contribute to our civilisation. We will learn though briefings, courses and group discussion.                                                                Monthly meetings at the COWSHACC  have resumed. See the Monthly Meetings page for latest details.
See the List Of Groups page for the latest news on the status of our groups. Halls and venues are still not so easy and more expensive since COVID especially for the smaller groups.
Most of the groups would like and welcome new members. The best way to make contact with a group is by email to the group leader, who should then respond with details of their next meeting, correct at that time.

Newsletter/Facebook Page
Please consider contributing to our newsletter. Its editor, Brian Lyness, always welcomes copy on any topics but "What we've done during lockdown" or "What we've learned from the internet since spring" would be particularly topical. Brian can be contacted by emailing:
Welshpool & District U3A also has a Facebook group page for members to access for interaction and advice. To access the page you must be a member of our U3A. To join the group from Facebook enter "Welshpool & District U3A" into the search field, or follow the link : Welshpool U3A Facebook Page

Welshpool U3A was formed in 2005, and we are part of a national and international movement of people who believe that, we should always be mentally and physically active. Now there is time to dig into all those things we might have missed out on whilst working and bringing up a family.
In the UK U3As are supported nationally by the Third Age Trust. The U3A movement in Britain was set up in the early 1980s.

Specialist Interest Groups

Our main activities are carried out in Interest Groups, where members come together to learn about and participate in a particular topic. There is pretty well something for everyone!
Take a look at our Groups menu on the right for more detail.
